What Are The Side effects of Accutane?
There are a lot of side effects to Accutane. Here are some of the extreme ones and some that I experienced. The harsher side effects include:

- kidney failure
- birth defects
I did not experience any of these side effects. My skin peeled a lot and my lips were constantly dry, cracked and peeling. I also had a rather strange side effect. Accutane makes your skin sensitive and thin. During intercourse while taking Accutane my vaginal wall tore. It did not tear a lot or that deep. It bled a lot and I received three stitches. It is important to use many forms of birth control while taking Accutane but I would advise avoiding sexual intercourse all together.
How to get rid of pimples without losing your lips?
I have never met anyone who didn’t experience sever chapped lips while taking Accutane. Having chapped lips while taking Accutane is the most embarrassing side effect! Your lips hurt, crack, bleed and peel and there is nothing to stop it. The only redeeming part of this experience is that you are taking a real acne free product. I found one product that worked out of about 50. For a while I was using something that they rub on chapped cow utters. I live in a city finding this was not easy! But it will give you an idea of how many different things I have tried. There is one product that works like a charm and it is $2.00. You can buy it in most rite aids, Walgreens etc.

What Happens Once I Get My Accutane Prescription?
If you are female you have to wait till you have been on birth control for a month before you will be prescribed. Every month you visit your dermatologist and get tests taken at the lab. The labs test for a bunch of stuff including organ function and pregnancy. Your dermatologist will ask you a number of questions to see if you are experiencing any of the psychological side effects. They are mainly testing for depression.
Accutane and Birth defects:
If you are sexually active you have to be using two forms of birth control while using Accutane. You must sign up for the i-pledge program. The i-pledge program gives you information about 
pregnancy prevention and tests your pregannacy prevention knowledge. If you get pregnant while taking Accutane or a month after you have stopped taking Accutane there is risk of birth defects. The I-pledge program helps reduce the risk of unwanted pregnancy while taking Accutane. A pregnancy test is included in your monthly lab.
